New Bedford – Bernice L. (Jackson) Godwin, 82, of Fairhaven died unexpectedly April 7, 2005 at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was the widow of John C. Godwin.
Mrs. Godwin was born in New Bedford, daughter of the late John E. and Hazel H. (Thorley) Jackson, and resided in the New Bedford and Dartmouth area all of her life. She was employed by Cornell Dubilier Electric Corp., New Bedford until her retirement in 1982. She enjoyed knitting and taking day trips.
Survivors include a daughter: Valerie M. Chadwick of Enosburg Falls, VT; a son: John Godwin of New Bedford; a brother: Arnold T. Jackson of Leesburg, FL; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews; and her good friend: Hazel Hadfield of New Bedford.
She was sister of the late Thomas F. Jackson, Edmund S. Jackson and Donald R. Jackson.
At the request of the family, services will be private.
