The Visitation will be held at Seven Oaks Funeral Home on Monday April 11, 2005 from 6 to 8 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Water Valley, MS on Tuesday Morning April 12, 2005 at 11:00 am.
Mr. Joe Nelson Harris was born to the late Wilkie Harris and Mary (Person) Harris on June 10, 1915 in Water Valley, Mississippi. He was one of eight children, four sisters: Vera Curry, Hazel Viola Sims, Ruthy Toles, and Lillie M. Harris. Three brothers: Amber Lee Harris, Elzie Harris, and James Ozzis Harris, six of which preceded him in death.
He confessed hope in Christ at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Water Valley, MS under the leadership of Reverend E. Mead. He was married to the late Hattie Cornelius (Lewis) Harris; from this union they bore thirteen children.
He departed this life on April 6, 2005 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS
He leaves in mourning his sister Vera Curry, five daughters; Katie (Rev. James) Townsend, Vera Mae Harris, Suzie (Bennie) Bain, Lillian Gail (Grover) Wise, and Brenda Joyce Story, eight sons; Joe (Mary) Harris, Willie Ike (Tina) Harris, Wayne Harris, Jimmy (Cynthia) Harris, Sherman (Eva) Harris, Billy (Viola) Harris, Harvey Lynn Harris, and Levo (Sandra) Harris, 75 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren 5 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
