Obituary

Leicester: Vivian L. (Dumas) Southard,88, of 807 Pleasant St., in the Rochdale section of Leicester, died Tuesday March 29 in her son's home after an illness.
Her husband Ralph R. Southard, Jr. died last year. She leaves two sons Gerald F. (Lucille) Jacques of Rochdale and Alan E. (Marilyn) Jacques of Sedrowooley, WA, a daughter Dorothy D. (Robert) Eggleston of Rochdale, three sisters Dorothy M. Jyringi and Kathleen M. Jyringi both of Rochdale and Theresa I. LaPlante of Charlton, a step-son David Southard of Worcester, a step-daughter Janice (Bart) Cellucci of N.J., 16 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren,nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a brother Dennis A. Dumas and a sister Ruth A. Ryan.
Mrs. Southard was born in Toronto, Canada daughter of Alfred E. and Mamie (LaBrake) Dumas. She was a machine operator at Carleton Woolen and Worcester Tool & Stamp before retiring. She was a member of St. Aloysius-St. Jude Church and their Ladies Guild, and the American Legion-Cherry Valley Post 443, Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting and donating various items to the Leicester Women's Club and St. Aloysius-St. Jude's Ladies Guild. She was an avid gardener, rock collector and hunting.
The funeral will be held Saturday, April 2 from MORRISON-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Aloysius-St. Jude Church, 489 Pleasant St., Leicester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Friday April 1, from 5:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to, The Carter Center, One Copenhill, 453 Freedom Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30307 or to St. Aloysius-St. Jude Church, P.O.Box 296, Rochdale, Ma. 01542.
