Dan Redus, 67, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, March 31, 2005 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, April 2, 2005 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with Rev. Kelly Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:30 Friday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Redus was born July 28, 1937, in Vernon, Alabama, to the late Joe P. and Bessie Thompson Redus. He lived in the community since 1967 from Douglasville, Georgia. Mr. Redus retired after thirty-three years of service as supervisor at AT&T Long Lines, at Irwinville. He was a 1957 graduate of Lamar County High School in Vernon Alabama, attended Auburn University and was a 1992 graduate of the Jewelry Institute of America in jewelry repair and diamond setting at Georgia Southern University. He was a member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church, Fitzgerald, where he taught the Jim Carlton Sunday School Class for thirty years, was a member of the choir and Pipe Organ Committee. Mr. Redus was a former Little League Baseball Coach and Midget Football Coach. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club and the Fitzgerald Jaycees.
Mr. Redus is survived by his wife of forty-eight years: Betty H. Redus of Fitzgerald; children: Dawn Redus Mixon and Sandra Redus Heninger, both of Fitzgerald, John Daniel Redus of Holly Springs, NC and Holly Redus Miller of Newnan; grandchildren: Michael Coffey, Katy Heninger, Kurt Heninger, Kaleb Heninger, Andrew Redus, Aaron Redus, Abby Redus, Addie Miller and Austin Miller; great-grandchild: Blake Coffey.
