Carnegie, PA – Mark E. “Rusty” Conlon 47, formerly of Whitman, died Monday June 15 after a brave battle with Huntington’s disease. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Martin) Conlon.
Born in Brockton and raised in Whitman he was the son of Dorothy (Roberts) Conlon of Whitman and the late M. Edward Conlon.
He was a graduate of Whitman-Hanson High School, class of 1986 and also a graduate of Bridgewater State College in 1991.
Rusty lived and worked in Palo Alto, CA. and Atlanta, Ga as a CPA before moving back to MA in 1998.
Rusty had tirelessly advocated for all causes benefiting Huntington’s disease through education programs, fundraisers, research and supporting others. Raising awareness brought him joy as this illness continued to take his abilities. Through it all, he maintained a positive outlook, a smile on his face, and an infectious sense of humor.
In addition to his loving wife Patty and his mother Dottie he is survived by his children, whom he adored, Zachary and Meghan. He is also survived by his sister Rita Bradley and his sister-in-law Jennifer Conlon as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was the brother of the late Michael Conlon.
His funeral service will be held Tuesday June 23 at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 9:00 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held Monday June 22 from 5:00-8:00 PM.
