WORCESTER-Katherine J. Chipas, 91, of 555 Plantation Street, formerly of 193 Highland Street, died Wednesday, March 30th at Notre Dame du Lac. She leaves her sister Christine Chipas of Worcester and several nephews and nieces. A sister Georgia Papapetrou predeceased her.
She was born in Louka, Tripoli, Greece the daughter of John and Paraskevi (Kaplanis) Tsipas. She had worked for many area spas including Elm Park Spa, and later had been employed by Astra Pharmaceutical before retiring. Miss Chipas had been an active member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, the Ladies Philoptochos Society, the Daughters of Penelope and the bi-annual Greek festival. She was also an active volunteer at Holy Trinity Eastern Orthodox Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
The funeral is Friday, April 1st from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 10:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, March 31st from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
