Obituary

Edward J. Carney, 92, of New Bedford died Monday March 28, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Mary M. (McHugh) Carney.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Patrick and Bridget (McCarthy) Carney, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church.

Mr. Carney was formerly employed as an office manager for King Lumber Company in Dartmouth until his retirement.

He was a graduate of Holy Family High School and Kinyon-Campbell Business School.

Survivors include two sons, Hugh J. Carney, and his wife Linda, of Dartmouth, and John F. Carney of Bolton Notch, Conn.; two grandchildren, Christopher Carney and Rebecca Carney; and nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Hugh J. Carney and Francis Carney.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Friday April 1, 2005 at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Thursday March 31, 2005 from 4-7 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
