TEWKSBURY: Guy F. DeCarolis, age 84, a resident of Tewksbury for over 50 years, died Friday, March 25, 2005 at his home.
He was the husband of Angelina F. (Alessandro) DeCarolis with whom he celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on November 2nd.
Born in South Portland, Maine on July 16, 1920, he was the son of the late Angelo and Regina (DeAngelis) DeCarolis.
Mr. DeCarolis was raised in Somerville.
He attended St. Joseph’s parochial school, Somerville High School and Somerville Trade School. While living in Somerville he attended St. Joseph’s Parish.
During World War II, he worked as an assistant coppersmith at the Charlestown Navy Yard and the South Boston Dry Dock.
In 1949, he and his wife moved to Tewksbury, where he was a communicant of St. Williams Church.
Mr. DeCarolis worked for 65 years as a master cabinet, window and furniture maker until his retirement in 1984. He was employed by several millwork companies including the former Shaw Furniture of Boston and the Builders Specialty and Hardware Company of Somerville.
During his retirement, he worked as a bus driver for the Tewksbury Transit Company, formerly the Blanchard Bus Company of Tewksbury.
Mr. DeCarolis enjoyed woodworking and restoring and maintaining antique automobiles.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 1 daughter; Regina C. Fishman and her husband Stanley of Tewksbury; 2 grandchildren; Wayde A. Fishman of Dracut and Jeffrey S. Fishman of Honolulu, HI; also many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Mr. DeCarolis was the brother of the late Josephine Ferrani, Mary Truscello, Lucia Katz, Carmella, Guy, Armando, James and Mario DeCarolis.
Calling hours Tuesday, March 29th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the FARMER & DEE FUNERAL HOME, 16 LEE ST., TEWKSBURY. Funeral Wednesday, March 30th at 9 a.m. from the funeral home. Funeral Mass Wednesday, March 30th at 10 a.m. at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery.
