Josephine (Fagundes) May, 72, of Little Compton, passed away on June 15, 2015at Adams House surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Stephen R. May.
Josephine was born in Fall River, daughter of the late Manuel and Evangeline (Arruda) Fagundes. She was a graduate of Josephine F. Wilbur School. Josephine was a devoted mother and grandmother who cherished time spent with her family and friends. She was a communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Parish. Josephine was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Sakonnet Chixs. She owned and operated the Punkateest Neck Restaurant. Josephine was an avid traveler and enjoyed visiting Azores and Aruba with her sisters.
Survivors include her daughter: Cynthia Cook and her husband Steven, II of Little Compton; her 2 sons: Mark Camara and his wife Holly of Swansea and Joseph Camara of Somerset; siblings: Catherine Silvia and John Fagundes both of Little Compton , Charles Fagundes of Swansea and Dorothy McCall of E. Providence; sister in law: Carol May Serbst; and several caring nieces and nephews. She will especially be missed by her 4 grandchildren: Michael, Joseph, Jr., Steven, III and Alicia.
Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, June 19, 2015 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Little Compton, at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 7-9 P.M. at the Potter Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery, Little Compton.
