WORCESTER-Leonidas A. Sahinis, 82, of Worcester, died Thursday, March 24th in his home after a long illness. He leaves his loving wife of 48 years Vasiliki (Bitsounis) Sahinis, a son Vasilios and his wife Monica Sahinis, a daughter Alexandra wife of Steve Koukakis, 2 grandchildren Alyssa Sahinis and Leo Koukakis all of Worcester. He also leaves 2 sisters, Ioanna Makos of Worcester and Eleni Koutsos of Epiros, Greece, and many nephews and nieces. 4 brothers in Greece predeceased him.
He was born in Douviani, Epiros, Greece the son of Athanasios and Alexandra (Giokas) Sahinis. He was educated in Greece and came to the United States in 1958, and graduated from Worcester Junior College. He had been employed by Morgan Construction. Mr. Sahinis also owned and operated Watertown House of Pizza in Watertown for many years before retiring. He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, its Senior’s Group and the Epirotic Society.
The funeral is Monday, March 28th, from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a service at 11:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, March 27th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
