DUDLEY – Joseph S. Ryzewicz, 73, of Glendale Road, Wilbraham, formerly of Dudley, died Saturday, March 19, in Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Agawam. His wife, Carmen A. (Gendreau) Ryzewicz, died in 1978.
He leaves two sons, Dr. Stephen J. Ryzewicz of Wilbraham and Keith J. Ryzewicz of Glenrock, NJ; a brother, Martin Ryzewicz of Florida; a sister, Irene Biernacki of Dudley; 3 granddaughters, a grandson, and nephews and nieces.
He was born and raised in Dudley, a son of Martin J. and Josephine M. (Hajec) Ryzewicz, and lived there until moving to Wilbraham in 1995. He graduated from Bartlett High School in Webster in 1950, where he played second baseman on the varsity baseball team.He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Ryzewicz was a jet engine test operator at Pratt Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford for 37 years before he retired. He was a member of St. Andrew Bobola Church. At one time, he coached in the Dudley Little League. He enjoyed candlepin bowling and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, March 29, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main St. Burial will be in New Notre Dame Cemetery, Southbridge.
