Obituary

WORCESTER— Arety (Pappazisis) Chicolas, 93, of 55 Park Hill Road, formerly of Fitchburg, died March 18th in Saint Vincent Hospital.

Her husband of 60 years, Philip D. Chicolas died in 1991. She leaves her son and caregiver, Pericles D. Chicolas with whom she lived since 1975; 2 daughters, Cynthia C. Meyers of Sparks, NV and Betsy J. Chicolas of Amherst, NH; 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, several nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Thomas and Theodore Pappazisis and 2 sisters, Emily and Amalia Pappazisis predeceased her.

She was born in Epiros, Greece the daughter of James and Cleopatra (Tzoupis) Pappazisis and moved to Fitchburg in 1916. Mrs. Chicolas owned and operated the City Hall Restaurant in Marlboro for 18 years, until retiring in 1975. She was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, its Ladies of Philoptochos Society and a charter and life member of the Daughters of Penelope. She was an avid reader.
