Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday at 10am. Funeral Blessing in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 11am. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery at 12:45pm. Visiting Hours Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9pm. Obituary Information
Leo J. Cribben, 84 years, died Monday morning at the Guardian Center after a period of failing health. Born in Brockton the son of the late Austin and Catherine (Lynch) Cribben, he was a life long resident. He was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1939. While a student at Wentworth Institute, Boston, he enlisted in the U. S. Coast Guard for the duration of WWII, he had served aboard the US Wakefield troop transport crossing the Atlantic.
Following his discharge he was employed by the former First National Stores. He retired as a manager after 35 years with the supermarket. He was a former member of Seville Council, Knights of Columbus, enjoyed swimming at the “Y”, had enjoyed golfing at DW Field Golf Course and was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
He is survived by his wife Lorraine M. (Perry) Cribben, a son Michael F. Cribben and his wife Ellen Wedner Cribben of New York City and Miami, FL, a brother Austin Cribben of Weston, a sister Marie Jordan of Brockton, several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Helen Lyons, and John P. Cribben.
