TEWKSBURY - Margaret M. (Ryan) Canavan, age 90, an original member of the SaundersCircle elderly housing community, died Tuesday, April 23, at Saints Memorial Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Robert L. Canavan, who died in 1974.

She was born in Boston, October 16, 1911, a daughter of the late William and Ellen (O’Donnell)Ryan. She lived the greater part of her life in Somerville, and was a communicant of St.Polycarps Church in Somerville. She had been a communicant of St. William’s since her move toTewksbury.

In her earlier years, she was active in Sodality and Girls Scouts as a leader.

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Dorothy M. Canavan of Los Angeles, Alice E.and Edward Sarasin of Wilmington, a son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. and his wife VirginiaM. (Farrell) Canavan of West Andover, a brother and sister-in-law, Richard F. and his wifeEleanor Ryan of Belmont, five grandchildren, Edward Sarasin of Plaistow, NH, Amy J. Brennanof Wakefield, James P. Sarasin of Wakefield, John R. Canavan of W. Andover and Matthew R.Canavan of W. Andover, and four great grandchildren, Elise, Kristen, Alicia, and Noah, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law James and Eleanor Canavan of Quincy, and a cousin Eileen Franklin ofSo. Weymouth.

She was also sister of the late John, William, Thomas Ryan, and Helen Wright.

Her funeral was held Saturday, April 27, in St. William’s Church, followed by Interment in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
