Mario A. T. Rocha died unexpectedly Sunday at Brigham & Women’s Hospital. Born and raised in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, he was the son of the late Goncalo da Rocha and Maria da Conceicao
Tavares Rocha. He moved to Cambridge at the age of 17 and had been a resident of Brockton since 1989. He retired from the Gillette Company in 2000 after 21 years.
He enjoyed watching sports, especially soccer. He had played semi-professional soccer for various teams in Cambridge, was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling to Portugal to see his family. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and a member of the Club of Luis de Cameos in Stoughton.
He is survived by his wife Maria A. (Gafanhao) Rocha, one son Mario G. Rocha and his wife Denise; four grandchildren Joseph, Evan, Laurinda and Gavin Rocha, one brother Manuel Rocha of Randolph and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Maria T. Rocha.
