Lillian was one of nine children born to Dan and Elizabeth
Shaw of Elgin, Nova Scotia, Canada on November 2, 1918.
Died peacefully at The Residence in Watertown Square on June 13, 2015
As a young woman she worked in sister Peg’s beauty salon in
New Glasgow.
Lillian graduated from a Business College in Windsor, Ontario where she settled for many years. She was also a
sought after caregiver for children.
Lillian moved to Brookline in 1964 to be with her sister Josephine Black. Lillian was a tireless worker as a nursing assistant at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for 27 years until her retirement at age 67.
She kept busy at home reading many magazines, hometown Newspapers, and kept up with nursing journals.
Bookkeeping was her strength and she never tired of her bookkeeping, paying the bills and keeping an extensive correspondence with old friends.
Lillian had many long time friends who enjoyed her quick wit and wonderful laugh. She will be remembered for her joy in hearing and telling funny stories. People would call her for encouragement and she would never disappoint.
Her remaining sister, Eleanor Dunbar lives in Nova Scotia,and sister-in-law Marion Shaw; as well as her nephews John and his wife, Janet Shaw and David and his wife, Lorna Shaw and their much-loved families.
