CHICOPEE – Eda D. (Daniele) Blair, 90, a longtime resident of Shirley Street and The Arbors on Memorial Drive, both in Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, June 10, 2015. She passed into Eternal Life at Heritage Hall North in Agawam surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers, both at Heritage Hall North and Baystate Visiting Nurse and Hospice. She was born in Springfield on November 27, 1924, a beloved daughter of the late Antonio and Anna (Calabrese) Daniele. She was raised in the Six Corners section of Springfield and lived there for many years before moving to Chicopee in 1953. For many years, she was employed by the Chicopee Housing Authority. Active in the community, Eda was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader and also a Cub Scout Den Mother for many years. During her leisure time, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading novels, music, traveling and shopping. Active in her Catholic faith, she was a longtime communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Raymond W. Blair who was Called Home on November 21, 2006. They were married on August 25, 1947 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 59 years of happiness together. She leaves her five loving children, Allan W. Blair and his wife, Sheila, of Longmeadow, John D. Blair and his wife, Shirley, of Chicopee, Deborah A. Batur of Hartwell, GA, Raymond W. Blair, Jr. and his partner, Arlene Rodriguez , of Chicopee, and Janice M. Hassett and her husband, Michael, of Wilbraham; her 13 cherished grandchildren, Colin Blair and his wife, Sue, Justin Blair and his wife, Mandee, Jennifer Allard and her husband, Tom, John Blair II and his wife, Aimee, Kristen Hronec and her husband, Steve, Brie Phillips and her husband, Chapin, Michael Batur, Jeffrey Blair, Jenilee Cochran and her husband, Tim, Michelle Blair, Kara Hassett, Julie Hassett and Deborah Hassett; her 14 cherished great-grandchildren, Hannah and Sadie Mae Blair, Charlie, Joey and Jake Allard, John Blair III and Allyssa Blair, Steven and Sera Hronec, Bryce, Tate, and Coley Phillips, Joey Blair and Corbin Cochran; her loving brother and sister-in-law, Carmino Daniele and his wife, Margaret, of Chicopee; her loving sister-in-law, Olympia Daniele of Chicopee; and her many cherished nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Blair and Daniele families. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her loving brother, Gerardo “Charlie” Daniele; her loving sister, Mary Bozek; and her loving sister-in-law of the Blair family, Lorraine G. Allen and her husband, E. Perry Allen. Her funeral will be held on Monday morning, June 15, 2015 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 7:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Committal Service will follow the Mass at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, June 14, 2015 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
