Jeannette M. (Soucy) Masse, 103 passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, June 4, 2015. She was the devoted wife of the late Leon J. Masse with whom she had shared 78 years of marriage.
Born in Salem and raised in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Michaud) Soucy. As a young woman she first worked for the former Hotwatt Co. of Danvers. She and Leon married in 1935 and shortly after moved to Salem where they devoted their time to raising their young family. As their children got older, Jeannette began working for Shetland Industries in Salem where she continued until her retirement.
Jeannette was the last survivor of eighteen siblings. Her life centered around her family and her very large extended family. A religious woman, over the years she sponsored many young boys and men for the priesthood. She was a long time member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish.
Her family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Putnam Farm Assisted Living of Danvers and Care Dimensions, formerly Hospice of the North Shore, for their outstanding and gentle care given to Jeannette in her final days.
She is survived by a son Richard Masse and his wife Nadia of Estero, FL, a daughter, Adrienne M. LeBrun and her husband Paul of N. Andover, 6 grandchildren, Scott Masse of New Hampshire, Robert Masse and his wife Carla & David Masse and his wife Carla all of Florida, Lori McConaghy and her husband Dan of Singapore, Elaine Testa and her husband Rich of N. Andover, Stephen & Jennifer LeBrun of Charlton. She also leaves 11 great-grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Alexandra, Daniel, Richard, William, Brooke, Jacob, Emily, Cordell and Kena as well as nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem to be followed by her funeral mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 260 North St. (On the Salem / Peabody line at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting Hours at the funeral home will be on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
