MYSTIC: Isabel A. Spaziani, 83, of Mystic died Thursday, June 4, 2015 at her home after raging a courageous battle with lung and brain cancer. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Eugene Spaziani.
She was born on May 11, 1932 in Schenectady, New York, the daughter of Juan and Mary (Izzo) Arbona. She grew in Ansonia, Connecticut and graduated from Ansonia High School in 1949 and Quinnipiac University in 1954 where she met her husband.
Isabel was the owner/operator of “The Unicorn Shop” in Mystic and Norwich for many years and with her husband operated the former “Mystick Puplick House” restaurant and the former “Skipper’s Dock Restaurant in Noank. She later became a professional tax “Enrolled Agent” certified by the IRS and prepared taxes for clients from all over America and volunteered her tax expertise for the Senior Tax Assistance group in Waterford for many years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Raina Spaziani and her husband Keith Burns of Griswold, Eugene Spaziani III and his wife Tricia of Waxahachie, Texas, Resa Spaziani of East Lyme, and Rhonda Spaziani and her husband Gary Schaefer of Gales Ferry; grandchildren
Eugene Spaziani IV of Blytheville, Arkansas, Kendall Spaziani of Jacksonville, Florida, Jake McTigue of Old Lyme, and Marena Morris of East Lyme, and one great grandchild Kamden Gene Spaziani of Blytheville, Arkansas. She is also survived by her sister Frances Roes of Pikesville, Maryland and was predeceased by sister Josephine Pietrangelo.
Her family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, June 11, from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic, followed by a procession to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1650 Route 12, Gales Ferry for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 1:00pm. Burial will follow in the Gales Ferry Cemetery.
