Alexander Papp, Jr., age 99, formerly of Falmouth died on Saturday, June 6th, 2015 at the Stafford Hills Assisted Living Center in Plymouth. He was the beloved husband of the late Ruth Johnson Papp and Grace (O’Connor) Papp. Born in West Caldwell, NJ, he was a son of the late Alexander and Margaret (Kirimi) Papp. He was educated in Falmouth and was a graduate of Lawrence High School, Class of 1934. Mr. Papp moved to Plymouth five years ago after residing in Falmouth for most of his life. He enlisted in the US Army in 1943 where he proudly served his country in the 137th Army Postal Unit in the European Theater during World War II. For most of his working career he was employed by the US Post Office Department where he worked as Superintendent of the Mails until his retirement in 1969. He was a 40 year member of the Woods Hole Golf Club, and was a member of a barbershop quartet. He was a 25 year volunteer at Falmouth Hospital, and was president of his graduating high school class as well as serving as president of his class during his junior year. Mr. Papp enjoyed curling during his free time. He was the devoted father of his sons; Stephen Papp and his wife Pamela of Round Hill, VA, and Alexander Papp III and his wife Shirley Gerzon Papp of Tewksbury, MA., and stepchildren Nancy and husband Donald Gantz of Plymouth, Mike O'Connor of Mashpee, and Maureen and husband James O'Neill of Barnstable. He also leaves his sister-in-law Josephine “Jo” Papp of Fairbanks, AK. He was the cherished grandfather of 12 and great-grandfather of 8. He was pre-deceased by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He always made everyone feel special and loved. He was a wonderful role model for the entire family and will be greatly missed . Visiting Hours will be held in the Davis Funeral and Cremation Home, 619 State Rd., Plymouth (Manomet) Visitation will be held in the Davis Funeral Home, 619 State Rd., Plymouth on Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m. followed by a service in the funeral home at 10:00 a.m.. Interment will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery, Falmouth.
