Darla J. Scharlacken, 56, of Franklin, died on Friday, June 5, 2015 at Milford Regional Medical Center. She was diagnosed with kidney cancer in March 2010. Darla was the beloved wife of Raymond J. Scharlacken since 1982.
Born in Plainview, TX, February 25, 1959, she was the daughter of Chaplain John R. Johnston, USAF Ret. of Minneapolis, MN and Leta M. Johnston of Omaha, NE.
Darla was a resident of Franklin since 1999 and was a graduate of Texas A&M University and University of Rhode Island.
She was a librarian at the Dale Street School in Medfield, MA. Darla enjoyed reading, watching the Red Sox, the Patriots and tennis. She also enjoyed puzzles, crafts and chocolate and had an interest in traveling.
Besides her husband and parents, she is survived by her children Kathryn (Scharlacken) Shevy and David Scharlacken and two sisters Donna Johnston and Jackie (Johnston) Campbell.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, June 11th from 5:00 – 8:00 in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber Street, Medway, MA (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) and a memorial service on Friday, June 12th at 11:00 at Medway Village Church, 170 Village Street, Medway, MA.
