SOUTHBRIDGE – William H. “Pete” Geary, Jr., 83, of 555 Worcester St., died Saturday, March 19, in Radius Health Care Center.
He leaves his wife of 20 years, Dora M. (Bolduc) Racicot Geary; 3 sons, Stephen Geary of Worcester, Paul Geary of Holden, and William P. Geary of Hubbardston; 5 daughters, Anne Landry of Holden, Elaine Urbec of Shrewsbury, Donna Merrimar of Clinton, Dianne Geary of Worcester and Laura Geary of Sarasota, FL; 1 stepson, Paul Racicot of Houston, TX; 5 stepdaughters, Dolores DesRosiers, Pauline Tremblay of Southbridge, Yvette Dwyer of Williston, VT, Diane Osimo of Southbridge and Ann Hapgood of Wilbraham; a brother, George Geary of Nashville, TN; 17 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 20 step-grandchildren, 42 step-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His first wife, Estelle P. (Boisseau) Geary, died in 1982.
He was born in Worcester, a son of William H. and Marion A. (Galipeau) Geary, Sr. He was a graduate of Saint John’s Preparatory School, Shrewsbury.
Mr. Geary was an Army veteran of WW II. He was employed as a maintenance worker with Mass Electric for 30 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Webster, a 4th degree member of the Fr. McGivney Assembly #1764 Knights of Columbus and the American Legion both in Stewart, FL. He enjoyed golfing and bike riding.
The funeral will be held Monday, March 21, with military honors from Scanlon Funeral Service, East Main St., Webster, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main St., Webster. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Webster. Calling hours are Sunday, March 20, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
