Roger J. Ratte’, 87, of Lawrence passed away peacefully with his children by his side, June 4th, 2015 at the Blaire House of Tewksbury. He was the loving husband of the late R. Eleanor (Maxwell) Ratte’ and father of Joseph Ratte’, Joanne Culhane and the late Justine Ratte’.
Born in Methuen, Roger was the middle child of 11 of the late Arthur J. and Rose (Comeau) Ratte’. He was educated at Tenney High School and graduated from Mass Military Academy. Roger served in the National Guard Reserve for 15 years. He worked with his father as a building contractor and took over the business, until his retirement in 1985.
Along with running his business Roger served on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Builders Association and was Executive Secretary and Vice President of the Home Builders Association of Greater Lawrence. He was also very active in St. Augustine Parish, served on the advisory board of Greater Lawrence Technical School and the Board of Directors of St. Mary/Immaculate Conception Cemeteries.
He will be sadly missed by his son Joseph and his wife Linda, their children Joseph, Shawn, Julie and Keith; his daughter Joanne, her children Michael, Caitlin and Patrick.
Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, June 9th, 2015 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, St. Theresa Church, 22 Plymouth Street, Methuen, MA.
