Obituary

A. Lewis Brackley of Natick, MA, passed away after a long illness on June 4 at his home in the company of his beloved wife and best friend, Margaret Sue (Koehnline), and their two cats. Lew and Margaret had just celebrated their fifty-sixth wedding anniversary.
Lew was born in Stoneham, MA, on January 24, 1933, to Dorris and Almon Lewis Brackley, and grew up on a farm in Kingfield, ME. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1954 with a B.A. in economics, then served in the U.S. Army for two years. When he finished his military service, Lew earned his M.B.A. from Columbia University, then went to work as a comptroller for ICON. He retired at a young age, then pursued a career in real estate.
Lew, who was well-known for his sharp intelligence and quick, sometimes biting wit, enjoyed playing cards and such board games as Trivial Pursuit with his extended family, playing golf, and taking road trips to Florida and Maine with his wife.
In addition to Margaret, Lew is survived by his three children and their spouses, all of whom are blessed to have known him: Dana and Paul Huekell of Natick, MA; Martha and Richard Hogan of Simsbury, CT; and David and Susan Brackley of Old Lyme, CT. Lew will also be missed by his six grandchildren, Lewis and Sarah Huekell, Jessica and Zachary Hogan, and Faith and Drew Brackley.
Donations in Lew’s name can be made to the American Cancer Society.
