Worcester – Steven P. Mercon, 68, of Worcester, died on Monday, June 1st in UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus after being stricken ill.
Mr. Mercon was married to the late Janet A. (Boulay) Mercon for 46 years until she passed away in 2011. He is survived by a son, Sean P. Mercon of Margate, FL; three daughters, Michele M. Green and her husband Eric of Lutz, FL, Lauri A. Pella and her husband Roy of Worcester and Kelley A. Sorensen and her husband Michael Sr. of Coral Springs, FL; a brother, Owen P. Mercon of North Danville, VT; two sisters, Diane R. Mercon Griffen of Spencer, MA and Melissa M. Mercon Smith of Hopedale, MA; seven grandchildren, Ryan Alvarado Mercon, Mikaela Green, Michael Green, Michael Sorensen Jr., Emma Sorensen, Gabrielle Mercon and Noelle Mercon; a close friend, Arthur Gregoire of Worcester and many nephews and nieces.
Steven was born in Worcester, son of the late Paul A. and Evelyn R. (LaRocque) Mercon and is also predeceased by a brother, Jeffrey P. Mercon.
Mr. Mercon is a veteran of the United States Army and worked for over 40 years as a car salesman at almost every dealership in the Worcester area. Steve also lived in Florida for 12 years on both the east and west coasts before moving back to Worcester in 2014.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 5th from 5 to 7 PM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a funeral service to be held at 7PM. Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Mercon may be made to the American Lung Association 460 Totten Pond Road, Waltham, MA 02451.
