Donald J. Carty, Sr., 83, of Manchester, NH, died Sunday May 31, 2015 in Aurora Senior Living in Derry, NH. He was born in Boston, MA on February 3, 1932, a son of the late John and Lenora Veronica (Faherty) Carty, and had been a resident of Manchester for over 50 years. He was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict era. Mr. Carty was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Litchfield and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golfing and bowling, and was an avid NE Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan.
He is survived by four sons, Donald J. Carty, Jr. of Manchester, Richard W. Carty of Litchfield, Lawrence D. Carty of Manchesster, and James P. Carty of Litchfield; two daughters, Margaret "Peg" Thornby of Manchester, and Elizabeth A. King of Manchester; 11 grandchildren; one brother, Edward Carty of East Petersburg, PA; one sister, Mary LeBlanc of Randolph, MA; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Ann (Dacey) Carty in 2013, and his brother Jack Carty.
Calling hours were held on Thursday, June 4th from 5 – 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry, NH. A Liturgy of Christian Burial was be celebrated on Friday at 10:00am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 9 St. Francis Way, Litchfield. The burial followed in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy., Boscawen, NH.
