Obituary

CHEVALIER, Deborah A. of Winthrop, a 58 year old RN, died from complications of respiratory disease on May 31, 2015. She is survived by her mother Jane Chevalier of Winthrop, niece Taylor Stallings, aunts Linda Beddeos, Carolyn Nickerson and an uncle Richard Nichols. Dear sister of the late Wade Stallings.
She loved being a nurse. It was her ambition since childhood. She worked at Massachusetts General Hospital for many years, as well as several other venues before finding her “calling” as a Hospice Nurse. She often said “it was the most significant and rewarding work I’ve ever done. Despite the sadness and the loss, there can be no more loving act than to help a patient and family through their final journey with dignity and respect”.
She volunteered her time with many organizations over the years. The longest being 10 years at My Brothers Table, a soup kitchen in Lynn. She and another nurse ran a small medical clinic that served the homeless and others. She was also a medical advocate for BARC, Boston Area Rape Crisis Center in Cambridge. She served on the Boston Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation as well as on various other committees. She and several friends who called themselves “friends of felines” help to raise money for Animal Umbrella, a no-kill cat shelter in Revere.
She has a group of loving friends, whose support, love and friendship meant the world to her, and she is grateful for them. She had a love for all animals, both 2 legged and 4 legged, and took up horseback riding later in life. She loved music and despite some evidence to the contrary, really thought she could sing, and often did so with abandon!
