Obituary

Kenneth S. Bliss, 76 of Peabody, passed away unexpectedly in his home, Friday night, May 29, 2015. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Valerie A. (Kennedy) Bliss with whom he had shared 58 years of marriage.

Born in Salem and raised in Salem and Middleton, He was the son of the late Maurice S. and Elizabeth F. (Grimes) Bliss. For over 45 years Ken worked first as a lineman and later as an underground cable splicer for Mass Electric Co. in Beverly. He also tended bar part time for the Ward II Social Club of Salem.

A diamond in the rough, Ken was devoted to his wife and family. He was an avid softball player who played for several leagues and also loved to golf with his golfing cronies. He enjoyed walking and nature and will be deeply missed by many.

In addition to his wife Val, he is survived by two daughters Bonnie and her fiancée Jim of Maine, Darlene and her companion Jeff of Beverly, a son Bryan and his wife Debra of Arizona, four brothers, Stephen, Noel, Robin and Ronald Leslie, 3 sisters, Carolyn Clements, Marlene Sutherland and Beverly Hayhurst. He also leaves 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great- grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Jaimie S. Bliss.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. to be followed by a graveside service in Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton at 2:30 P.M..
