Obituary

Michael Ward, 80, of Watertown an active member of St. Patrick’s Parish, died Tues March 15, 2005 at the Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton.
Born in Attymon, Athenry, Galway Ireland, he came to the U.S. in 1957. He had been the superintendent of St. Mary’s Cemetery in Needham and caretaker of Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Parish in Newton Upper Falls for 38 years, retiring in 1995. He was member of St. Patrick’s Parish in Watertown since 1965 and had served as a church usher and a worker at the parish bingo. He was also an avid gardener.
He is survived by his wife of over 45 years Nora (Hurley) Ward, his brother and sisters Sean Ward of Watertown, Winnie Higgins, Martin Ward, Maureen Daly, Bridie Dolan all of Ireland and the late Kathleen Griffin. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Relatives and friends will gather at the Eaton & Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St. Newton Corner on Sat March 19 at 8 Am and proceed to a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick’s Church, Main St. Watertown, at 9 AM. Interment will take place in Killimordaly Cemetery Athenry, Galway Ireland. Visiting hours will be in the funeral home on Fri from 4-8 PM.
