Francis “Billy” R. DeMattia ,of Ipswich, formerly of Medford, passed away Tuesday in Reading.
Billy was born in Boston, the son of the late John and Vincenza (Nuzzo) DeMattia. After graduating from Medford High he went on to the Massachusetts School of Art. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Mr. DeMattia made many close ties in his community as the former owner and floral designer of D’Errico McGlynn flowers.
He was the beloved husband of Mary lou (Kucharzyk.) The loving brother of Concetta DeMattia, Carmel Baglio, Ernest DeMattia, all of Medford and the late Chester and Joseph. Dear brother in law of Rosemarie DeMattia of Medford, John Brennan of CA, Judith Catino of Melrose, Robert Kucharzyk of Stoneham, and Richard Kucharzyk of GA. Billy is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Friday at 9AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.
