Salem – Richard Thomas Febonio 78, of Salem, a retired bricklayer, husband of Sandra Lee (Munro) Febonio, died suddenly, Monday, March 14, 2005 in Salem Hospital.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late George and Eugenia (Della Monica) Febonio and the late Joseph J. Femino, he received his education in the Salem school system.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Army.
Mr. Febonio had been employed for over forty years as a bricklayer by trade. He was a member and past president of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsman Local #12 prior to becoming the business agent for Local #12.
A life long resident of the City of Salem, he was a longtime member and communicant of the former St. Mary’s Italian Church in Salem and a member of the Christopher Columbus Society. Active in the community, Richard was a former member of the Board of Trustees for the Salem Housing Authority and former member of the Salem Board of Appeals.
An avid sportsman, he enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Salem Green Municipal Golf Course.In addition to his wife with whom he shared twenty years of marriage, he is survived by four daughters, Debra Lee Doucette of Lynn, Vicki and her husband, Bernie Chase of Eaton, NH, Michele Bettencourt of Peabody, and Lori Ann Benedict of Naples, FL, seven grandchildren, Dominique Lee and Micaela Doucette of Lynn, Adam, Amanda, Thomas and Moriah Heath of Eaton, NH and Sandralee Joy Benedict of Naples, FL, one sister and brother-in-law, Leah and Edward Ferris of Salem, one sister-in-law, Mary Febonio of Danvers who is wife of the late George Febonio, several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and many friends.
His funeral will be held from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Sq., East (at Salem Common) Salem, Friday at 9 A.M. followed by a funeral Mass in St. James Church, Salem at 10 A.M. Relatives & friends invited. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 P.M.
