Curtis J. Henderson, Sr., 73, of North Port, FL, died Friday, January 28, 2005 in the Englewood Community Hospital In North Port. Curtis was born in Skowhegan, ME on February 8, 1931, a son of the late Mylie and Margarite (Laney) Henderson. He was a resident of North Port for the past three years, formerly living in Derry, NH for many years. He was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy in Derry, Class of 1949 and a graduate of Hesser College in Manchester. Curtis was a US Army Korean war veteran. He had been employed as a CPA and an office manager for Sanitas. Curtis enjoyed all sports, especially golf, in which he hit a hole in one. He served on the Board of Directors for Hoodkroft Country Club in Derry where he was also the Club's handicap. He was a former president of the Derry Athletic Assoc., a little league manager and a referee for men's basketball. He had also served as the president of the PTA in Londonderry.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Fling) Henderson of North Port, FL, one son, Curtis J. Henderson, Jr. of Huntington, IN, three daughters, Katherine Roberge of Goffstown, NH, Nancy Wilkins of Clermont, FL, Megan Richards of Cheriton, England, eight grandchildren, two brothers, Wilson Henderson of Manchester, NH, Roger Henderson of Fosten, MN, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 10th at 10:00am in the St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry. The burial will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Londonderry. Friends may call on Thursday from 6 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry.
