Robert M. “Roc Roc” Coley, 77, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Monday, March 14, 2005 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 4 PM, Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at Frank Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Edward McIntyre officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 9:00 Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Coley was born September 14, 1927, in Ocilla, Georgia, to the late Arthur and Maggie Griffin Coley. He lived in the community most of his life and was a 1944 graduate of Ocilla High School. Mr. Coley retired after thirteen years with the United States Post Office as a Rural Letter Carrier, owned and operated Coley’s Service Station for twenty-six years and was a former Inspector for the United States Army Corp of Engineers. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Coley was a member of Frank Primitive Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and a member of the church choir.
Mr. Coley is survived by his wife: Iris Coley, Ocilla; son and daughter-in-law: Danny & Martha Coley, Fitzgerald; daughter & son-in-law: Sandra & Walter Sumner, Ocilla; stepsons and wives: Jeff & Leshia Lewis, Fitzgerald and Brad & Cindy Lewis, Columbus, OH; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; brothers: James A. Coley, Fayetteville, GA, Edsel Coley, Ocilla and Jerry W. Coley, Tifton; sisters: Mary Ellen Rea, Paducah, KY and Louetta Gordon, Lansing, MI. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margie Fletcher Coley.
