Eleanor F. Cummings (Hall) of Dighton, formerly of Taunton passed away on the evening of May 28, 2015 at Marian Manor in Taunton. Mrs. Cummings was 100 years old. She was the wife of the late Cassius W. Cummings. She leaves behind her son Cassius A. Cummings and his wife Judy of Raynham and she is reunited with her sons; the late Ronald F. Cummings and the late Kenneth W. Cummings. Eleanor was the proud grandmother of 19 grandchildren and is survived by many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was sister of the late Lawrence Hall.
Eleanor was born on August 2, 1914 in Taunton. She was the daughter of the late Seth and Edna (Atwood) Hall. She grew up in Taunton and was a member of the graduating class of 1937 of Taunton High School. Eleanor lived in Taunton until 1943, she would then call Dighton home for many happy years. Mrs. Cummings worked as an inspector for the Raytheon Company until retiring in 1977.
After retirement Eleanor dedicated herself to roles such as; member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and the church’s Women’s Society. She also had a seat with the Dighton Council of Aging and Dighton Senior Citizens council. Mrs. Cummings also served with the Lincoln Village Tenant’s Association and the Senior Veterans Club with the VFW as well as the International Order of King’s Daughters and Sons, and the A.A.R.P.
Cremation will take place at Woodlawn-North Purchase Crematory in Attleboro. A graveside interment service will be held privately in Oak Knoll Cemetery in Rehoboth.
