CHICOPEE – Glenn A. Brodeur, 68, a longtime resident of Chicopee and a former resident of the Glenwood section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, May 24, 2015. He passed into Eternal Life at the William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut after a leisurely day at the Mohegan Sun Casino. He was born in Holyoke on July 21, 1946 where he was raised, attended local schools and lived for many years. Glenn served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and attained the rank of Airman First Class. Glenn was a longtime Police Officer for the City of Chicopee and retired several years ago. He later was employed as a truck driver for various companies in the area. During his leisure time, Glenn was an avid hunter and a member of the National Rifle Association. He leaves his wife of 38 years, Barbara D. (Henry) Brodeur; his three loving children, John A. Brodeur and his wife, Melissa, of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Keith B. Nicoli and his wife, Heather, of Feeding Hills and Kimberly E. Brodeur of Chicopee; his four cherished grandchildren, Tyler Nicoli, Kelsey Nicoli, Kayla Brodeur and Christian Brodeur; his two brothers and sister, Charles Brodeur and his wife, Anne, Edward Brodeur and his wife, Lou, and Roxanne Brodeur, all of Florida; and his many nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Brodeur and Henry families. He was predeceased by his sister, Belinda Brodeur. His Funeral and Celebration of Life will be held on Monday morning, June 1, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.) His Committal Service with US Air Force Military Honors will follow at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam.
