CLIFTON PARK, NEW YORK - Mrs. Helen E. (Flynn) Pauling of Salem, MA, daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Flynn and wife of the late retired Treasurer of the Naumkeag Trust Co. Leon Pauling, passed away on March 12, 2005 at age 97 in the Schuyler Ridge Nursing Home in Clifton Park, NY.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Mularky) Flynn. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Saint James Girls High School. She continued her education at Essex Agricultural Institute where she received a diploma in Nutrition and Home Economics. Through out her life Mrs. Pauling remained active in the Salem public schools as a substitute teacher. She was often a volunteer at the Salem Hospital Auxiliary and the Salem Red Cross. An avid golfer, she was a long time member of the Wenham Country Club. She also loved to bowl and continued to do so into her early nineties.
Helen is survived by her two sons Edward Pauling and his wife Margaret of Clifton Park, NY and David Pauling of Boston, two grandchildren Timothy Pauling of Walnut Creek, CA and Joanne Smith of Milford, MA. She also leaves five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Sq., East (at Salem Common) Salem, Thursday, March 17, 2005, at 8 A.M. followed by a funeral Mass in Ste. Anne’s Church, Salem at 9 A.M. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours Wednesday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 P.M. For more information, inquire at 978-744-0254.
