Obituary

RAYNHAM - Herbert A. Deane, 77, of Raynham, formerly of Bridgewater, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Cemter in Brockton. He was the husband of Lee (McGuiggan) Deane.

Born in West Enfield, Maine, he was the son of the late Herbert A. and Grace A. (Keith) Deane.

Mr. Deane attended Taunton schools, then went to California, where he graduated from Glen Dale High School. He also attended Northeastern University.

He was a U.S. Naval Reserve veteran.

Mr. Deane was retired from MacDonald Storage & Moving Co., which was formerly of Raynham. He worked there for 15 years as executive vice president of sales.

He was a member of the Massachusetts Movers Association and former member of the Conservation Commission in Bridgewater.

Mr. Deane enjoyed boating and water skiing.

In addition to his wife Lee, he is survived by his daughters, Linda Deane of Mansfield, Catherine Matta of Walpole and Patricia Mantia of Sturbridge; two brothers, Edward Deane of California and Robert Deane of South Carolina; a brother-in-law, Richard McGuiggan of Easton; his grandchildren, Katelyn Deane of New York City, Jennifer Mantia of Sturbridge, Allison Mantia, Irina Deane-Costa and Keith Michael Mantia, all of Mansfield, Neil Matta and Stephaine Matta, both of Walpole and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Keith M. Deane and brother of the late Arnold Deane.

His funeral will be held at 10:15 a.m. Saturday morning from the Prophett Funeral, 98 Bedford St. (Rt. 18), Bridgewater, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Raynham, at 11 a.m.

Visiting hours are Friday from 4-8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Bridgewater, at a later date.
