Peggie C. Champion, 71, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, March 11, 2005 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Bryon Perry officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00 Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Champion was born September 20, 1933, in Folkston, Georgia, to the late Harry and Nita Ryder Chesser. She was a graduate of Charlton County high School and had lived in the Fitzgerald community since 1982. Mrs. Champion was a former resident of Warner Robins and Folkston, GA, Tampa, FL, California, Virginia, New Mexico and Texas. She was a member of the First Assembly of God, where she was the Secretary of Sunday School, Choir Director and a former Sunday School Teacher. Mrs. Champion was a homemaker and a former employee of Gilman Paper Company in St. Mary’s, GA. She was an avid fisherman.
Mrs. Champion is survived by her husband: Rev. Emory E. Champion, Fitzgerald; sons and daughters-in-law: Robert & Wanda Champion, Dalton, GA, David Champion, Donald & Elaine Champion, Ronald & Connie Champion, all of Fitzgerald; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Harry Chesser, Gene Chesser, Pearl Aultman and Lois Bryant, all of Folkston.
