NORTH FORT MYERS, FL – Leonard L. Heavey, 68, of N. Fort Myers, FL died on Saturday, March 5 in Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, FL surrounded by his loving family.
He leaves his wife of 44 years Marguerite A. Ducharme; a son Daniel G. Heavey of Worcester; three daughters Deborah G. Wise, Diane M. Heavey both of Worcester and Donna I. Storms of Oak Creek, CO; a brother Paul Bernard Heavey of the Marist Brothers of Queens, NY; a sister Carole Therrien of N. Fort Myers, FL; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester son of Bernard and Rita (Fontaine) Heavey.
Mr. Heavey worked for N.E. Grocers in Northboro for 30 years as a truck driver retiring in 1996.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He was a #1 Red Sox Fan and enjoyed watching them win the World Series. He enjoyed golfing at Pine Lake’s Country Club and was a former member of Immaculate Conception Church.
The funeral will be on Thursday, March 10 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home (www.Royfuneral.com) 12 Hammond Street, Worcester with a Mass at 10 AM in Immaculate Conception, 353 Grove St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are Wednesday, March 9 from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home.
