Born October 4, 1926 in Natick, MA to Dr. John E. Burns and Isabelle Brennan Burns.
Bob graduated Cranwell School in Lenox, MA, The Massachusetts Maritime Academy, The College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, MA, and Georgetown Dental School, Washington, DC.
He married Ruth Powers on July 11, 1953 at St. Patrick's Church in Natick, MA.
Following graduation from dental school, Bob practiced dentistry for two years in the Navy, stationed at the Naval Submarine Base in New London, CT
He opened his dental practice and built his office building in Wellesley, MA in 1960, where he practiced for 35 years. Bob was an avid golfer and member of Woodland Golf Club. As a faithful follower of Christ, he was a parishioner and eucharistic minister at St. Paul Church, Wellesley, MA.
Survivors include his brother Paul Burns of Garden Grove, CA and his sister Isabel Dunn of Bethel Park, PA. He was pre-deceased by his brothers Edward and John.
He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law: James and Elizabeth of Wayland, MA, Peter and Lisa of Needham, MA, Robert and Kris of Northbridge, MA, Stephen and Kate Neisser of Chicago, IL and John of Southborough, MA. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Molly, Kaitlin, Abigail, Maura, Tyler, Kathleen, Isaac and Edward.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt.16) Wellesley, Thursday May 28 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Paul Church, Wellesley at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Wednesday, May 27, from 4-8pm. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Natick.
