Josephine F. (Melino) Ruggieri, of Medford, formerly of Somerville, died Sunday at her Medford home after a long illness. She was 83.
Mrs. Ruggieri was born and raised in Boston’s North End, the daughter of the late Gabriel and the late Anna (Scola) Melino. Josephine lived over 40 years in Somerville, and spent the past 7 in Medford. She was a member of the Forever Young Club and the Italian-American Club. A dedicated wife and mother, Josephine enjoyed time with her family and especially loved the company of her grandchildren.
She was the beloved wife of the late Vincent Ruggieri. She was a devoted mother of Joseph and his wife Diane, William, Vincent and his wife Eileen, Anne Annable and her husband Robert all of Medford. She was a loving grandmother to Vincent, Joseph, Michael, Christopher, Sarah, Robert, Eric and a loving great-grandmother to Vincent Joseph. She was a dear sister to Angela Cheverie, Florence O'Neal both of Fla and Steven Melino of NH.
Friends and family may visit Wednesday from 4 - 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in St. Catherine Of Genoa Church, Somerville, Thursday, at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
