TEWKSBURY: Marie (LeBlanc) Burris, R.N., age 87, a resident of Tewksbury for over 50 years, died Monday, March 7, 2005 at the Wentworth Skilled Care Center in Lowell.
She was the wife of the late John H. Burris who died February 15, 2002. Born in Peabody on July 18, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Emanuel and Rose (Hardiman) LeBlanc.
Mrs. Burris was raised in Peabody.
She attended Peabody schools and was graduated from Peabody High School in 1935. Following graduation, she attended the Tewksbury Hospital School of Nursing, where she received her degree as a registered nurse in 1942. In 1948, she and her late husband moved to Tewksbury, where she was a communicant of St. Williams Parish. Mrs. Burris was a member of the Tewksbury Golden Age Club.
She enjoyed many activities including, knitting, quilting and traveling.
She is survived by 3 daughters; Mary R. Burke and her husband Peter M. Burke of Lowell, Jean M. Emerson and her husband Mark C. Emerson of Townsend and Ann M. Smolag of Billerica; 3 sons; John William Burris and his wife Cheryl of Tewksbury, Martin W. “Marty” Burris and his wife Kim of Lowell and Steven J. Burris of Billerica; 9 grandchildren; Kim Amico and her husband Joseph of Charlestown, WV, Karen Stamp of New Jersey, Kiley Correa and her husband David of Lowell, Karla Regas and her husband Peter of Lowell, Michelle Burris and Joyce Burris both of Lowell, John Burris of Tewksbury, John and Richard Smolag both of Billerica; 6 great grandchildren; Anthony and Angela Gallo, Demetrios and Alex Regas, Sophia Marie Smolag and Maria Grgurovic; 3 sisters; Gertrude C. Rahilly of Melrose, Leona Santisi of Danvers and Theresa L. Manning of Orlando, FL; 1 brother; William LeBlanc and his wife Louise of Rochester, NH; also many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Burris was the mother in law of the late Kathy (Hoppenyan) Burris and sister of the late Rose Hanna, Henry, Elmer, Edward, Raymond and James LeBlanc.
Calling hours Thursday 3-7 p.m. at the FARMER & DEE FUNERAL HOME, 16 LEE ST., TEWKSBURY. Funeral Friday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home. Funeral Mass Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Saints Memorial Cancer Center, 2 Hospital Drive, Lowell, MA 01852 are requested.
