Worcester- Anita A. (Langevin) Fournier, 66, of 71 Miscoe Road, died Sunday, March 6, at home, surrounded by her family after a four month battle with cancer.
Her husband, Worcester Firefighter Ronald R. Fournier, died in the line of duty in 1971. She leaves two daughters, Karen M. Ricardi and her husband Michael of Worcester, and Luanne M. Ducas and her husband James of Worcester; a brother, Richard Langevin and his wife Lucille of Worcester; a sister, Lorraine George and her husband Donald of Spencer; six grandchildren, Mikey, Lyndsay, Brittani, Anthony, Bethani, and Kayley; several cousins, nephews, and nieces. A brother, Edgar Langevin predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Gedeon and Irene (Berthiaume) Langevin and lived here all her life. She attended St. Joseph’s Grammar School, and later graduated from St. Stephen’s High School and the former David Hale Fanning School of Nursing.
Mrs. Fournier was a nurse for many years at several nursing homes and hospitals, retiring in 1990.
She was a member of St. Joseph Parish. She was an avid bingo player, and especially enjoyed her grandchildren, who were the spark of her life.
The funeral for Anita will be held Wednesday, March 9, from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 35 Hamilton Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, in the funeral home.
