
HENRY M. "PETE" PETERSON, a lifelong resident of North Weymouth, died on Saturday, March 5th at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was 87. Mr. Peterson was born, raised and educated in Weymouth, graduating from Weymouth High School in 1935. During World War II he served as a Boatswains Mate First Class aboard the destroyer USS Clarence K. Bronson in the Pacific Theatre. Following his military service, he worked for the Weymouth Highway Department for many years, retiring in 1981.
Known by his family as a "jack of all trades", he was able to build or repair just about anything. He was an avid baseball fan and loved swimming, fishing and golf.
Husband of the late Barbara Marie (Gardner) Peterson, he leaves two sons; Mark H. Peterson of Quincy and Scott G. Peterson of North Weymouth, and his daughter, Gail M. Fowle of Pembroke. Also survived by four grandchildren; Courtney Peterson, Kristen Peterson, Leslie P. Fowle, Aaron H. Fowle and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral services and interment are to be private. Visiting hours and flowers omitted by request.
