Obituary

William M. Lyons, 85, of Mattapoisett died March 5, 2005 passed peacefully at home.
He was the husband of the late Regina (Ring) Lyons with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.
Mr. Lyons was born in Watertown, MA, and lived in Waltham and Bradenton, FL before moving to Mattapoisett.
He was formerly employed with campus police of Massachusetts Institute of Technology for many years retiring as police captain. Previously he was a police officer with the Waltham Police Department.
Mr. Lyons served in the U.S. Army during World War II and enjoyed fishing and golf.
Survivors include 3 sons, John H. Lyons and Charles E. Lyons, both of Waltham, Thomas J. Lyons of California; 3 daughters, Judith A. Lyons of Fairhaven, Mary R. Lyons and Brenda M. Dufresne, and her husband Donald, all of Mattapoisett; a son-in-law, Richard Lieser of California; 2 sisters, Bernadette Murnaghan of Watertown and Rita Lyons of Waltham; 3 grandchildren, Lauren M. Dufresne, Matthew C. Dufresne and Meaghan E. Dufresne.
He was the father of the late Patricia Mary Lyons, Ellen Lieser and William M. Lyons, Jr. and brother of the late Hugh Murnaghan and Mary Murnaghan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass in St. Anthony's Church, Mattapoisett Monday, March 7th at 12 Noon.
Visiting hours at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett, Monday, March 6th from 10:30-11:30 AM prior to the Funeral Mass.
Interment St. Anthony's Cemetery, Mattapoisett.
