Anthony J. Santapaola, age 72, a life long resident of Medford, passed away March 3rd following a short illness. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Torpey). Born in Medford he was the son of the late Dominick and Giacomina (Palastro) Santapaola.
Anthony was retired from the City of Medford Forestry Dept. where he worked for many years as a foreman. He was also a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War serving from 1952 to 1954. He was devoted to his family and also enjoyed horse racing and going to Suffolk Downs.
In addition to his beloved wife Patricia, he is survived by his children, Christine Santapaola and her fiance Michael Buchanan, Ann Gardikas and her husband George of Peabody, and Anthony Santapaola of Medford. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Olivia, Peter, and Jacqueline Gardikas. He is further survived by his brother Joseph Santapaola of Medford and is preceded in death by his sister Rosara Santapaola.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford, Tuesday at 10 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St. Medford, at 11 AM. Visiting hours Monday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
