Elmer Francis Coates Jr. age 57, of Ledyard died Tuesday at Yale New Haven Hospital.
He was born on Dec 28, 1947 to the late Elmer Coates Sr. and Constance Durfee Coates. He was predeceased by a daughter Stephanie Coates.
He is survived by his wife Louise Coates of Groton, a long time companion Gail Wilkinson of Groton, a son, Jonathan Gaudiosi of Huntsville, AL., 4 daughters Rhonda Douglas of New London, Tabitha Coates of New London, Jennifer Coates of Groton, Natasha Sandlin of Madison, AL a sister, Sharon Coates of North Stonington; his stepchildren, Christine Foular of Oakdale, Everett Tillinghast of Groton and Stephen Wilkinson of Oakdale; his son-in-laws, Carl Douglas of New London, David Herbert of Groton, and Jason Sandlin of Huntsville, AL; 20 Grandchildren and many cousins, nieces & nephews.
His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic, on Tuesday from 9-10:45am. A service will be conducted at 11am with burial following at Elm Grove Cemetery.
