Obituary

North Brookfield—Elo R. Hokanson, 93, formerly of Mad Brook Rd., passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family, March 3, 2005, at the Life Care Center of Auburn. His wife, Edith G. (Blauvelt) Hokanson, died in 1984. He leaves a son, Kenneth Hokanson of Shrewsbury and a daughter, Edith Comeau of Boylston, and his loving friend, Patricia Pechie; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A brother and sister predeceased him.

He was born in Worcester, son of Ernst W. and Maria (Anderson) Hokanson and graduated from Commerce High School. He worked for U.S. Steel for more than 40 years, and was Supervisor for the Cable Division before retiring. Mr. Hokanson was a member of Salem Covenant Church and the Guiding Light Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He loved gardening and was an avid fisherman and played semi-pro baseball and football.

Family graveside services will be held Saturday, March 12, at 11 a.m. in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Please omit flowers. Donations may be made to Sherry’s House Helping Kids with Cancer, 1152 Pleasant St., Worcester, MA 01602. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., Worcester is directing arrangements.
