Bridgewater - Francis J. "Chip" Chiappini, 74, a lifelong resident of Bridgewater, died Thursday, March 3, 2005, at his home in Bridgewater. He was the husband of Louise M. (Costa) Chiappini.
Born Aug. 1, 1930, in Brockton, he was the son of the late Octavio and Lena (Tassinari) Chiappini and graduated from Bridgewater Academy High School in 1948.
Mr. Chiappini was a shoe cutter for Lucy Shoe Co. for 40 years, and also worked at the McElwain School in Bridgewater.
He was in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Mr. Chiappini was a member of the Vets Club, Lincoln Club and the 49ers Club.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and bocci.
In addition to his wife Louise, he is survived by his daughter and son, Deborah Drago of Abington and Daniel Chiappini of Bridgewater; his granddaughter, Melissa Drago of Abington; a brother, Richard Chiappini of Bridgewater and also many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late David Chiappini.
His funeral service will be held Tuesday in the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rt. 18), Bridgewater, at 11 a.m. Visiting hours are Monday from 5-8 p.m. Burial will be at a later date in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery.
