Hattie P. Barfield, 97, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Palemon Gaskin Nursing Home, Ocilla, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, March 5, 2005, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Ocilla, with Elder Elliotte Tucker and Rev. Dan Garrett officiating. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00, Friday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
One of seventeen children, Mrs. Barfield was born May 5, 1907, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Henry and Susie Tucker Purvis. She was a homemaker and helped her family farm after her husband, Albert Lewis Barfield died in 1944. Mrs. Barfield was a member of Spring Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Irwin County.
Mrs. Barfield is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Thomas and Sara Barfield, Macon; six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one sister: Maxie Paulk, Florida.
